BOSTON, April 19, 2021 — Affiliated Monitors, Inc. (“AMI”) announced today that Bethany Hengsbach has joined the company as Managing Director, Global Corporate Compliance.  Ms. Hengsbach was a partner at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton for nine years prior to joining AMI.

“We are so pleased that Bethany has joined AMI.   Her depth of experience in high-stakes enforcement and compliance matters brings a new dimension to AMI’s independent monitoring,” said Vincent DiCianni, President and Founder of AMI.  “She is a nationally recognized subject-matter expert in anti-bribery and corruption, and her international experience adds tremendous value to AMI.  Her law firm background, where she successfully represented clients in white collar matters in a variety of industries, as well as her work in compliance and ethics, will enhance AMI’s expertise in criminal, civil and regulatory actions and corporate compliance assessments – particularly FCPA, financial crimes, and unfair trade practices.”

Ms. Hengsbach will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, increasing AMI’s presence on the West Coast.  About her new role, she said, “I am proud to join AMI and its exceptional team of highly respected and seasoned leaders in the compliance monitoring and assessment space.  In my nearly 25-year career as an attorney, I have seen compliance monitoring save countless organizations that, without it, would have faced draconian penalties or even been forced out of business.  In my experience, most companies want to do the right thing, but they may not know how to implement a robust compliance program necessary to get them there.  And that’s where AMI comes in.  Its guiding philosophy of ‘integrity through compliance’ helps galvanize companies to become best-in-class examples of how to treat customers, employees, and interact with government regulators in a positive way.”

In her distinguished legal career at three major law firms, Ms. Hengsbach focused on solving difficult matters for clients in complex civil litigation, white collar defense, and internal investigations.  She has significant experience representing boards of directors and audit committees in high-profile matters, and understands the value of practical, business-focused solutions to compliance challenges.  She has represented corporations and individuals before the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission, and state Attorneys General across a full spectrum of industries, including technology, aerospace and defense, healthcare, and entertainment.

Ms. Hengsbach has extensive international experience, having conducted investigations throughout Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America.  She brings a deep understanding of the cultural sensitivities surrounding cross-border matters, and a demonstrated track record of successfully navigating issues of language, custom and tradition in the context of international trade compliance.
