WORLD FORUM FOR WOMEN IN THE LAW

The ABA’s Commission on Women in the Profession invites you to participate in the first-ever World Forum for Women in the Law to be held virtually January 27-29, 2021. This cutting-edge conference will focus on Women, Power and Disrupting the Status Quo. The Forum will bring together women leaders in the legal profession, representing a global array of international firms, corporations, NGOs and public officials committed to advancing women into leadership roles.

AMI’s Mikhail Reider Gordon will be speaking on a panel on January 27 at 12:10PM CT

PLENARY: IS THE RULE OF LAW DECLINING AND CORRUPTION RISING EVERYWHERE?

This panel will bring rule of law leaders from around the world to discuss what rule of law safeguards need to be strengthened to sustain anti-corruption measures and their enforcement both at the international and national levels. Consistent recent trends demonstrate an erosion to democratic systems of governance at the global and national levels coupled with an exacerbation of social inequalities brought about by a pandemic and a decline in the rule of law. Societies with a strong rule of law have built-in mechanisms for mediating conflicts through different tools, systems and practices that are perceived as fair and reasonable. The correlation is direct: societies with a strong rule of law are more successful, inclusive, and sustainable. Attendees will learn the role for lawyers, bar associations and the judiciary in contexts with a shrinking political space and rule of law breakdowns.
