Cristina Revelo

Cristina Revelo joined AMI in May, 2021 as our Deputy Director, Corporate Monitoring and Compliance Services.

Ms. Revelo received both her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign (UIUC).

In which of AMI's service areas have you worked? What are some of your most interesting cases?

I work in our corporate area focusing on compliance monitoring engagements. I’ve also had the privilege of working on a proactive matter where we assessed a healthcare company’s compliance program, and helped the company avoid further action from a regulator.

What aspect(s) of AMI's work are you personally most passionate about, and why?

I am passionate about helping companies successfully complete their monitorships and continue to improve their compliance programs. I enjoy focusing on the minor details of a compliance program that make a big difference to regulators, but might be overlooked by internal teams.

In what ways does your personal expertise complement our services?

As a Forensic Accountant, I bring a different perspective to our engagements, focusing on internal controls and root cause analysis. I have experience working in a compliance program that was under DOJ monitorship, which helps me understand the needs of the corporations we monitor, and what they are going through.

Based on your experiences, what would you like prospective clients to know about AMI?

Our prospective clients should know that we believe in their success and want to support them throughout the monitoring process. Our goal is not to catch them violating an agreement, but rather to work with them to successfully comply with an agreement, and strengthen their ethics and compliance programs for the overall success of the company.

I enjoy focusing on the minor details of a compliance program that make a big difference to regulators, but might be overlooked by internal teams.

Do you teach and/or conduct seminars, speak at conferences, or serve on boards?

In my personal time, I volunteer as a mentor to underrepresented high school students for an organization called Erie House in Chicago. In the compliance space, I’ve had the opportunity to speak at compliance conferences, and on podcasts, to discuss not only ethics and compliance programs, but also the internal controls needed for a compliance program to be successful.

What interests do you have outside of work?

I enjoy learning about mindfulness, mindset, and cognitive psychology, as well as hiking, and learning about other cultures through travel.
